"Litter Trashes Everyone"
PalmettoPride, with the Columbia Marionette Theatre has presented Litter Trashes Everyone, a free show to all elementary students featuring marionettes and hand puppets that convey the message to children that every citizen has a responsibility to help keep South Carolina beautiful. The puppet show, which targets children in grades K-4, has reached over
384,900 of South Carolina's children.
Challenge
for
the
Environment
Grant
The grants provide an opportunity for South Carolina schools to perform litter reduction activities and/or beautification projects in and out of the classroom. The grant cycle begins each
September.
Litter
Curriculum
PalmettoPride has contracted with the Department of Education
to develop K-12 anti-litter and beautification lessons that
match the current curriculum standards. The lesson plans are
available for teachers statewide and are downloadable from the
teacher resource page.
PalmettoPride Promise Program
This new program
is aimed at elementary school students to raise awareness of the
litter problem in South Carolina. The program promotes the
importance of an ongoing effort to help keep South Carolina
beautiful.
After listening to a program
given by Miss South Carolina highlighting some of the problems
and solutions regarding litter, students will sign a promise to
assist in the effort to keep South Carolina litter free. Upon
signing the promise, students will then receive a bracelet to
serve as a continuous reminder of this pledge and ensure the
students’ commitment to the eradication of litter in South
Carolina.
Collegiate
Recycling Program
PalmettoPride and
university athletic programs have developed a recycling program at
stadiums dedicated to changing the behavior of sports fans.
PalmettoPride purchases recycling bins to encourage recycling
during events. Our goal is to be present at all universities and
colleges reaching students as well as sports fans with the
anti-litter message.
