"Litter Trashes Everyone"
For the past four years, PalmettoPride, with the Columbia Marionette Theatre has presented Litter Trashes Everyone, a free show to all elementary students featuring marionettes and hand puppets that convey the message to children that every citizen has a responsibility to help keep South Carolina beautiful. The puppet show, which targets children in grades K-4, has reached over 350,000 of South Carolina's children.

Challenge for the Environment Grant
The grants provide an opportunity for South Carolina schools to perform litter reduction activities and/or beautification projects in and out of the classroom. The grant cycle begins each August.

Litter Curriculum
PalmettoPride has contracted with the Department of Education to develop K-12 anti-litter and beautification lessons that will match the curriculum standards. The lesson plans are available to download by clicking here and will be offered to teachers statewide.

Green Driver Program
The Green Driver Project targets high school driver education programs to make students aware of the environmental impact of driving - just as they are beginning a lifetime of driving. The centerpiece of the Project is a classroom presentation that includes information and tips on used oil recycling, energy conservation and litter laws and prevention as well as a lesson and video. The classroom presentation is available statewide at no cost. Visit the Green Driver web site for more information on the program. The Green Driver Project is sponsored by DHEC's Office of Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling and PalmettoPride.
