When you see litter happen, "who you gonna call"? Litter Busters!
 Thanks to a year's worth of very intense work on technology and logistics, you can now report litterbugs to the "Litter Busters" hotline, a 24-hour statewide litter reporting program sponsored by PalmettoPride. The program, made possible thanks to the cooperation of the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Public Safety, works like this:
You spot someone tossing litter from an automobile. You grab your phone, call
1-877-7LITTER (754-8837) or dial #LB on your Cingular or Alltel phone toll free and report the location, time and the litterbug's license number.
The litterbug will get a
courtesy letter
from the Department of Public Safety informing him or her that you can't get away with littering in South Carolina. The letter will explain that if a law enforcement officer had witnessed the littering, it could have resulted in a serious fine or even jail time.
And now, there's an easier way to report litter offenders. From your Alltel or Cingular
cell phones you can call the Litter Busters Hotline by dialing #LB or #52. |
