For the last six years, PalmettoPride, your anti-litter organization, has led the way to rid our state of litter and beautify our communities.
Through a four-pronged approach, we’ve truly made a difference, resulting in behavioral change through:
- Our Education efforts have reached thousands of school children through an anti-litter curriculum and a marionette show;
- We worked with law Enforcement to prosecute littering and illegal dumping;
- We’ve raised Awareness of the situation through advertising, public relations, grassroots organization and other efforts to let people know reducing litter isn’t just about beautification, it’s about economic development;
- We’ve worked with hundreds of local organizations and thousands of volunteers on Pick-up efforts that have dramatically reduced litter.
What really makes this possible, though, is you – the citizens of South Carolina who have embraced PalmettoPride, supported our mission and become actively involved in the fight against litter.
Because you can make a difference everyday – by picking up that ice cream wrapper on a park bench, encouraging your children to fight litter or joining in a cleanup.
Together, we’ve reduced litter by more than
41 percent – but our work isn’t done. We must continue to work harder, to reach even more people and to prevent and remove even more litter on our highways, in our communities and in our state.
