Are you passionate about the environment and ready to make a difference in your community? The PalmettoPride Youth Ambassador program is seeking motivated students (ages 14-18) across South Carolina who care about preserving the beauty of our state. As a Youth Ambassador, you will represent PalmettoPride at sponsored events and in your own communities.
If you have participated in a litter pickup and are actively involved with an environmental organization or group, you are eligible to apply! Students selected for the role will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Applications have now closed. Decisions will be released on October 1st.

What you’ll do
Becoming a PalmettoPride Youth Ambassador is your chance to step up as a leader, take action in your community, and inspire others to care for the environment. Through hands-on service and statewide connections, you’ll build leadership skills, gain valuable experience, and join a network of passionate students working to make South Carolina cleaner and greener. These activities could include:
- Attend functions at the State House as schedules permit on behalf of PalmettoPride.
- Promote litter prevention messages and actions in your communities.
- Present to local government councils the importance of litter prevention.
- Appear in media and social media campaigns for PalmettoPride and KSCB programs.
- Share pictures and activities on social media (school, organization, or parents’, where applicable).

Project and travel support
If you’re interested in attending conferences or additional training opportunities, let us know! PalmettoPride may be able to assist with funding for community projects, travel expenses, and other approved program-related costs.
End-of-term presentation
All Youth Ambassadors will be asked to complete a short visual presentation at the end of the term, highlighting their work, impact, and growth. This is a great opportunity to develop valuable professional skills while building your portfolio.
Qualifications
- Must be between the ages of 14 – 18.
- Currently attending a high school in South Carolina
- 2.5 GPA or higher.
- Engaged in school and/or community activities, including participation in sports, clubs, and/or volunteer service.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience with litter cleanups or other environmental efforts
- Comfortable posting on social media, as some online promotion is expected.
- Leadership roles in schools, clubs, or other groups
- A letter of recommendation – these can be provided by teachers, coaches, or other community leaders
