Litter Trashes Everyone Annual Art Contest Finalists Announced

Columbia, SC – Education is a key component to litter prevention and is one of PalmettoPride’s four tenets of behavior change. The organization offers a number of free educational programs to schools across the state. One of the most popular programs and open to all South Carolina elementary schools is the Litter Trashes Everyone Art Contest.

The art contest is an opportunity for students to learn about their environment and showcase their artistic talents. Participation varies by each school, the whole school can complete the art project or even just one art class. Each participating school submits one entry to represent the school and the entries are divided into four regions, Lowcountry, Midlands, Pee Dee and Upstate. The top five finalist represent the four regional winners and the state winner.

The 2018 finalists for the Litter Trashes Everyone Art Contest are Bianca Kovalev from Fairforest Elementary, Nichole Davis from Fairfield Magnet School, Millie Jennings from Tigerville Elementary, Chanston Crosby from Richard-Carroll Elementary and LeVauge Pearson from Anderson Primary School.

These students will be invited to join PalmettoPride at the State House at a later date where Governor McMaster will announce the state winner.

Each school winner will receive a framed copy of their art work to display at home or their school. The top five finalists will each receive cash prizes as well as their schools. The state winner’s art will be featured on the back of PalmettoPride’s volunteer t-shirts for the following year.
