Columbia, SC (September 2018) – PalmettoPride’s Children’s Book Contest returns this fall. This year’s contest will begin on September 20 and will be open to South Carolina writers of all ages with an original story idea about the impacts of litter.
PalmettoPride’s mission is to eradicate litter and promote beautification in South Carolina using four key methods: education, enforcement, awareness and pickup. Changing the behavior of those who litter begins with education.
Last year’s winner, a student from the Green Charter School of the Midlands was presented her own copy during a presentation with her peers and local representatives. Even though last year’s winner was a student herself, this contest is open to writers of all ages.
Interested writers can submit an idea themed “Litter Trashes Everyone” for consideration, with an application to follow. The grand prize for this contest is a published book that will be donated to each elementary school in the state, available from PalmettoPride.
Criteria to enter contest:
The deadline to enter the contest is October 22, 2018. Illustrations are not required for the book, but they are encouraged. Judging will be based on creativity, content and character development. To submit your original idea, please contact Jessica at Jalbert@palmettopride.org or call us at 803-758-6034.
