Lexington, SC (January 7, 2020) –Join PalmettoPride and other local community organizations for Cleanup Blitz on Highway 6, Monday, January 20, 2020 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Start your new year off with a day of service by helping make Lexington County litter-free.
The cleanup event spans more than nine miles of roadway beginning with Peachtree Rock Road and ending at Highway 321 in Swansea. For this event, volunteers need to be 12-years and older. Local law enforcement officers and experienced volunteers will serve as safety leaders and traffic control throughout the cleanup event.
Registration, check-in and supply distribution will begin at 8:30 a.m. and be located at 811 Peachtree Rock Road, Lexington, SC. Volunteers will be directed to various locations along Highway 6 and the pickup will continue until noon.
“Giving back to your community through public service has always been important,” said Mallory Coffey, Keep South Carolina Beautiful state leader. “We look forward to seeing everyone on January 20, where we will be working with our partners, local schools and businesses to make Highway 6 cleaner, greener and more beautiful.”
Lunch will be provided after the cleanup by AAA Well Drilling and Shumpert’s IGA of Pelion, and water will be donated by Joint Municipal Water and Sewer Commission. Schools from District 1 and District 4 in Lexington County will also be participating. Prizes will be awarded during lunch and volunteer hours will be given to those who need them.
