Columbia, SC (August 2019) – PalmettoPride’s Children’s Book Contest returns for another year and is now accepting applications. This year’s contest is open to South Carolina writers of all ages with an original story idea about the impacts of litter. PalmettoPride is working to build a litter-free library and this is the third year for the statewide contest.
PalmettoPride’s mission is to eradicate litter and promote beautification in South Carolina using four key methods: education, enforcement, awareness and pickup. Changing the behavior of those who litter begins with education.
Last year’s winner, Tony Pichoff wrote the book One at a Time with Louie the Lion. PalmettoPride then published the book and donated one copy to every elementary school in South Carolina. The book was presented to the author during a presentation at Annie Burnside Elementary in April.
Interested writers can submit a book proposal themed “Litter Trashes Everyone” for consideration, with an application to follow.
Criteria to enter contest:
The deadline to enter the contest is October 31, 2019. Illustrations are not required for the book, but they are encouraged. Judging will be based on creativity, content and character development. To submit your original idea, please contact email@example.com or call us at 803-758-6034.
