PalmettoPride Honors 2023 South Carolina Leaders Against Litter

Columbia, SC (October 20, 2023) – PalmettoPride announced the 2023 Leaders Against Litter award recipients. This award honors elected officials who seek to change the environmental landscape in their communities by working with their administrations, employees, and citizens on litter prevention.

These leaders go beyond expectations to address litter in their communities, specifically following what PalmettoPride believes are the basic tenets for change: education, enforcement, awareness, and pickup.

2023 South Carolina Leaders Against Litter

  • Tyler Servant, Horry County Council District 5
  • Cam Crawford, Horry County Council District 6
  • Elise Partin, Mayor, City of Cayce
  • Tem Miles, Mayor, City of West Columbia

“South Carolina is a national leader in litter prevention because we have elected officials who are willing to support community-driven programs,” said Sarah Lyles, executive director for PalmettoPride. “These Leaders participate in litter cleanup events, support educational programs, and enable litter control enforcement.”

A litter-free environment is intrinsically linked to attracting local tourism and to promoting economic development. When a community prioritizes litter prevention, everyone benefits. PalmettoPride is honored to work alongside this year’s recipients in its mission of achieving a litter-free SC.
