Pickens County Pride

Pickens County Legislative Delegation, Sheriff Rick Clark and PalmettoPride announce Pickens County Pride, a litter pickup blitz. This month-long volunteer pickup campaign will take place throughout the month of March. There will be a kickoff Friday, March 3, 2017, at Lowes on Hwy 123 in Easley where volunteers can sign up and get supplies.

“We are excited to be a part of this campaign and applaud the Delegation and Sheriff Clark for their leadership. Having supportive leadership and active litter prevention programs makes a huge difference in the overall appearance of their communities,” said Sarah Lyles, Executive Director of PalmettoPride.

PalmettoPride and Pickens County coordinated a weeklong, countywide litter blitz in 2007. In that one week, 1,347 volunteers picked up 88 tons of trash.

“We challenge Pickens County citizens to beat those results,” said Lyles. “If 1,347 volunteers participated in one-week, think about what we can do in a month.”

Pickens County citizens are encouraged to organize local cleanup efforts on roadways, neighborhoods, public places and waterways. Businesses are encouraged to keep their grounds clean and litter-free.

In addition to participating in this litter pickup blitz, citizens are encouraged to commit to cleanup by joining the PalmettoPride Clean Teams. Clean Teams are groups that agree to cleanup a particular area four-times a year. Clean Teams can adopt highways, neighborhoods, parks, anywhere that a group feels strongly about.

All supplies will be given to volunteers. For more information, please contact PalmettoPride at 877-723-7755 or email slyles@palmettopride.org.
